Don “Donny” Rye, 58, of Cottonwood, died on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls due to complications from aggressive lung cancer.
Last Thursday, an inmate at the Lyon County Correctional facility made an attempt to hang himself.

A “Table for One” reading will be given by Veteran Byron Higgin and a tribute to all veterans by Commander Gregor.
Taunton American Legion Post 604 Memorial Day Service
Service at 9 a.m. with songs, invocation, readings and special speaker Heidi Fier, Lyon County Veterans Service Officer. Royal Hettling will do the welcome and Deacon Jason Myhre the invocation and benediction.
Music will be provided by The Swedes. There will be reading of “In Flanders Field” by Ryan Vlaminck and “The Gettysburg Address” by Nate Ludwikowski.
There will be a tribute to Veterans, reading of names and the service will continue at the Taunton Cemetery.
“Light the Lights” program at Veteran’s Park in Minneota will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Due to the impending inclement weather, the home playoff softball game scheduled for today is postponed and has been rescheduled for this Thursday, May 23 at 2 p.m.
