'I’m Bound Away: Favorite Folksongs and Carols'

'A Very Prairie Christmas”

The SMSU Chorale, SMSU/Community Concert Band, Men’s Glee Club, Bella Voce and SMSU Jazz Ensemble will perform “A Very Prairie Christmas” at the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts at Marshall High School.

This concert is a favorite of regional music fans and concludes with a sing-along. This concert is free and open to the public.

SMSU Pep Band to perform

The SMSU Pep Band, under the direction of John Ginocchio, will be “In Concert” on Monday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on campus.

Ginocchio said this concert is a favorite of the group, which so often does not get to finish songs they perform at athletic events due to time constraints.

“They’ll finish these songs,” he said with a chuckle. The concert is free and open to the public.

'Happy Birthday Lennie'

Dakota storyteller and artist Walter “Super” LaBatte Jr. will give a presentation at Southwest Minnesota State University in the SMSU Conference Center Ballroom.

Labatte is from Pejuhutazizi Kapi (the place where they dig for yellow medicine), better known as the Upper Sioux Community. He is known in native circles for his traditional process of tanning deer hides, making beaded moccasins, drums and his pasdayapi (corn soup).
