Minneota is in full baseball mode, even under the lights at K. P. Kompelien Field.
Deuel County won it’s own boys meet with 185 points and the Canby-Minneota boys were second at 138.
Heidi Guttormsson was the Marshall Invitational Tournament medalist on Tuesday — and in the process set a new school record with a score of 75 (40-35).
“Sometimes I’d rather have a win like that than a 15-5 win,” said centerfielder Donnie Schuelke after he trotted home with the winning run against Yellow Medicine East (YME).
Minneota/Canby and Renville County West split a doubleheader on Friday. RCW won the first game, 8-7 while Minneota-Canby took the second game, 20-10 in six innings.

On Thursday, the Canby-Minneota track team participated in the Montevideo meet. The girls had a stellar day with many first place finishes which carried the team to place first.
A year ago, then eighth grader Travis Engels went to the state trap shoot in Alexandria and competed as just one of two Minneota shooters in the varsity tournament.
For the past few years, Minneota’s boys have been building for the future. They still are, but they’ve got some solid building blocks in place.
