WRESTLING
Blake Mead finished in first place at 107 pounds and 11 other Minneota wrestlers placed in the annual Big Ole Open Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Alexandria.
Mead (13-9), a freshman, pinned his first two opponents before winning a 13-6 decision over Brayden Fobbe of Annandale-Maple Lake in the 107-pound championship.
Annandale-Maple Lake was the nine-team champion with 177.5 points. Royalton-Upsala was second with 171 points. Minneota finished third with 151.5 points.
Finishing in second place individually for Minneota was Kaden Lasnetski (20-4) at 114 pounds, Adam DeVlaeminck (21-5) at 127 pounds, Brock Fier (18-6) at 145 pounds, and Destin Fier (15-8) at 152 pounds.
Owen Myrvik (6-1) at 107 pounds, Alex DePestel (17-7) at 160 pounds, and Cael Fier (5-2) at 172 pounds all finished in third place.
