Wente "Top Athlete" at Pipestone

Monday was a great day for Canby-Minneota (C-M) runner Carter Wente.

"Carter Wente was selected as the meet's Most Outstanding Male Athlete," said C-M Coach Sara Hemish.

And rightfully so.

With C-M placing third  among 11 teams, the junior for Canby won the triple jump with a "smash" distance of 392 1/2 feet.

He was third in the 300-meter hurdles at :43.8. The event was won by Sean Boltjes of Ellsworth at 49.9. He also was part of the C-M 4x200-meter relay that took second at 1:35.7, just behind Pipestone Area. He ran with Cameron Anderson, Jared Josephson and Isaac Hennen.

He came back to win the 110-meter hurdles in :16.3, this time beat Boltjes at the wire.

That's two first, a second and a third in his four events.

Not a bad days work.

C-M's 4x100-meter relay team of Yan Din Suter, Isaac Hennen, Cole VanOverbeke and Cameron Anderson slid home in 47.2 seconds and caputured first place honors.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Hennen, Suter, Jaden Kindopp and Jared Josephson finished seond at 3:41.7, less than a second behind winner Southwest Minnesota Christian.

The 4x800-meter relay team was third as Southwest won and Luverne finished second. Anthony Wollum, Josephson, Jalyn Ufkin and Riley Kockelman ran the relay for C-M,

Isaac Hennen's 19-foot long jump was good for third place.

Kockelman took second in the 1600-meter (mile run) and Anthony Wollum was second in the 3200-meter (two mile) event.
