Vultures outslug Lamberton, 13-8

Peyton Sheik and Isaac Pohlen had three hits apiece as the Minneota Vultures outslugged Lamberton 13-8 last Thursday night in Lamberton.
"We hit the ball very well throughout the lineup," said coach J.D. Pesch.
Eight players had at least one hit as the Vultures amassed 13 hits in all and scored in every inning but the sixth.
The Vulture plated four runs in the first inning, all with two outs, utilizing two hits and five walks. They never trailed in the game.
Peyton Gillund started for Minneota and tossed the first four innings for the win. Isaac Pohlen pitched the final three innings to earn a save.
Besides Sheik and Pohlen's hits, the Vultures also got two hits from Alex DePestel, and one hit each from Gillund, Matt Gamrak, Eli Gruenes, Chase Johnson and Keaton Jurrens. Gruenes drove in two runs.
"We had a lot of mental errors in the field in this game and we need to clean those up," said Pesch. "Our younger players are stepping up into spots to fill and we'll be looking to solidify a playoff lineup in the next two weeks."
The playoffs begin on July 20.

Result June 29
Marshall Black 3, Minneota Vultures 2
Gavin Peterson's walk-off hit with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Marshall to a 3-2 victory over the Minneota Vultures last week.
"I thought this group played one of the best games I have seen them play," said coach J.D. Pesch. "We had good defense with no mental errors. Our hitting was decent against a very good Marshall pitcher, and we bunted and stole in situations when we needed to score our two runs early."
Minneota built a 2-0 lead early with single runs in the first two innings.
In the first inning, Peyton Gillund reached on a walk and eventually came around to score on a single by Isaac Pohlen.
Peyton Sheik led off the second inning with a single and eventually scored on an error.
Ryan Dalager pitched solid against a good Marshall team, allowing only five hits and two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out seven.
"Ryan pitched very well," said Pesch. "He is really becoming a very good pitcher. He has great accuracy and hits hit spots. He changes speeds and pitches the corners around good hitters."
The Vultures collected four hits off two Marshall pitchers, singles by Gillund, Pohlen, Sheik and Adam Dalager.
