Vultures open playoffs with win over Canby
Carson Javers went 4-for-4 while also earning the win in relief as the Minneota Vultures defeated Canby 11-5 in the first round of the Junior Legion playoffs on Friday.
The Vultures trailed 3-2 before scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, then added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Javers entered in relief with one out in the third inning. He pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and two runs, while walking none and striking out four.
Javers had four of the Vultures' 11 hits. Joey Lacek went 2-for-2 while also reaching base four times and scoring four runs. Parker Bradley also had two hits. Kyson Arndt reached base four times on a double and three walks, scoring all four times.

Vultures fall to Dawson
Dawson took advantage of some untimely fielding miscues by Minneota, scoring five unanswered runs to rally from a 6-3 deficit to knock off the Vultures last Tuesday in Minneota.
The Vultures outhit Dawson 11-9, but allowed four unearned runs that led to the loss.
Brody Larson went 3-for-4, including a double, and drove in two runs for Minneota. Kellen Bradley also went 3-for-4 and drove in a run. Joey Lacek had a single and double, while knocking in two runs.
Ryan Meagher, Adam Dalager and Carson Javers had the other Vultures hits.
Minneota trailed 3-0 before staging its own rally. Meagher's run-scoring single in the last of the third inning cut the deficit to 3-1 before the Vultures plated five runs, all with two outs, in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead. In that fourth inning, Kellen Bradley had a RBI single, Larson a two-run double and Lacek a run-scoring single.
