Vikings ready for Molten Challenge

The Minneota Vikings girls volleyball team (3-0) will enter the Molten Southwest Minnesota Challenge in Marshall Friday and Saturday.

There are 36 teams in the tournament and they will play down until a champion is named Saturday afternoon. Teams play for consolation, seventh, ninth place and so on.

Minneota is in the first round on the campus of SMSU University. They play Perham at 6:15 p.m. If they win they play Eastview or Totino Grace at 8:45 p.m. If they lose they play the loser of that game.

Teams in the first 16-team bracket are: Russell-Tyler-Ruthton vs. Benilde St. Margarets; Lakeville North vs. LeSueur-Henderson; Prior Lake vs. Owatonna; St. Thomas Academy vs. Andover; Minneota vs Perham; Eastview vs. Totino Grace; Northfield vs. Fergus Falls and Hutchinson vs. Yellow Medicine East.

In the other bracket it's: Marshall vs. Burnsville; Wayzata vs. Waconia; Lakeville South vs. Heron Lake-Okabena; Chaska vs. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa; Champlin Park vs. Sioux Falls Roosevelt; Bloomington Jefferson vs.Elk River; Kasson-Mantorville vs. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and New Prague vs. Jamestown, ND
