Viking girls take Isle Tournament, easily!

Minneota went into the Isle Holiday Tournament as The Class A No. 1 ranked.

There was no doubt they will remain that way through the holidays after beat host Isle, 76-16 and Spectrum (A charter School in Elk River), 82-26 to capture the weekend, two-day event.

The Vikings emerged with an 8-0 record.

The championship game took a little over an hour as the Vikings rang up a 44-2 lead and a 54-12 halftime margain on Spectrum.

The rest, as they say, was a piece of cake.

The B squad also won their tournament with a 77-23 win over Isle and 75-16 victory over Spectrum.

Minneota 82, Spectrum 26

Four Vikings got into double figures as everyone got into the game.

Morgan Hennen poured in 19 points, including three, three-pointers to lead both team. Lizzy Gillingham countered with 7-8 from the free throw line and totaled 15 points. Abby Hennen scored 11 points and Lydia Sussner hit five of seven from two-point range and ended with 12 points.

Morgan Kockelman counted with seven, Natalee Rolbiecki scored eight and Abby Rost added five.

The Vikings out-rebounded Spectrum (now 5-4), 41-24. Sussner had 13 of those withJeren Rost and Abby Hennened adding five each.

The Vikings also grabbed 21 steals to just five for Spectrum. Leading Minneota in steals was Sussner with eight with Kockelman and Abby Hennen adding three each.

Abby Rost with five assistants Kockelman with four led the assist department, which had 18 assists to none for Spectrum.

Minneota shot 41 perent and hit 17 of 31 free throws, while Spectrum scored just nine field gials and shot 21 percent.

Minneota 76, Isle 16

Minneota had no trouble getting into the finals of the Isle Holiday Tournament.

They turned back the host, 76-16 Friday to get a chance to play Spectrum today for the tourney championship.

Spectrum turned back Lake of the Woods.

The Vikings, who got everyone into the game early, and led 29-3 in the first half and by as much as 54-11 in the second half.

Leading the way was Lydia Sussner with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Vikings has 37 rebounds to isle's 15.

Both Lizzy Gillingham and Abby Hennen scored15 points. Natalee Rolbiecki scored nine, Abby Rost six points with five rebounds; Morgan Hennen hit for six and Morgan Kockelman for five for the Vikings.

They hit for 39 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line as they cashed in on 10 of 20 free throws.

Isle got seven points from Hailey Remer and nobody else got more than three.
