Second half gives Viking girls win over Lakers
It wasn’t quite so easy this time.
Minneota, now 4-1 on the year, led by just three at the half, 26-23, then shook off the rust, built their lead up to 20 at 60-40 — then coasted to a 66-50 win over the Lakers Tuesday night.
The Vikings went on a six-point run to start the second half to take a 32-23 lead — and in minutes increased that to 42-24 — outscoring the Lakers 16-1 early in the second half.
They used Lydia Sussner under the basket for 21 points and 10 rebounds and costed to their fourth win of the year.
Lizzy Gillingham poured in 15, hitting three, three-pointers; Moergan Hennen scored 12 and Morgan Kockelman 10.
The Vikings hit six of 12 from three-point range and shot 39 percent overall. they did have trouble at the free throw line — cashing in on just 10 of 24.
Lakeview got 10 points from Aubrey Kaczmarek and Kiana Imes each scored 10 points.
