Schoolmeester gets ace at Countryside

In his two previous rounds of golf, Dave Schoolmeester had driven the ball past the green on hole No. 6 using a hybrid. So, he decided to play the hole short last Wednesday and pulled a 5-iron out of his bag.
He certainly chose the right club for the par-3, 187-yard hole.
The ball took a bounce to the left of the green, kicked right and landed on the green before rolling into the cup for the third hole-in-one at Countryside Golf Club this season.
"The pin was in the center front, but I didn't actually see the ball go in the cup," Schoolmeester said. "The two guys I was playing with, Dan Mead and Ryan Juutilainen, said they thought it went in."
When Schoolmeester approached the green and didn't see the ball anywhere, he looked into the cup and there it sat.
"I was so excited that I said I wasn't going to take it out," he laughed.
Schoolmeester plays at least three rounds of golf a week, but has never had a hole-in-one before.
His group finished the final three holes and went into the clubhouse where it is tradition for anyone getting an ace to buy a round of drinks.
