Myhre, Bowyer named top golfers
Prior to the high school state golf tournament this spring, Minneota coach Walker Hennen made a promise that if any golfer finished in the top 25 at state, he would jump into the pond at Countryside Golf Club at their awards banquet.
Lauren Bowyer finished in 18th place in the girls' state tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.
There was only one problem with Hennen fulfilling his promise.
"There isn't hardly any water in the pond where I was going to jump near hole number four," laughed Hennen, referring to the summer-long drought.
Hennen did still get wet, though. Bowyer and Cole Myhre dumped a 10-gallon bucket of water from the golf course balcony over Hennen's head, ala the former popular Ice Bucket Challenge that was the fad four or five years ago to raise money for ALS.
