Mudhens edge Cottonwood, 3-1

Austin DeVlaeminck doubled home the go-ahead run and Austin Buysse drove in an insurance run with a single in the seventh inning as the Minneota Mudhens rallied to beat the Cottonwood Cardinals 3-1 Wednesday night at K.P. Kompelien Field in Minneota.
Danny Hennen hurled 7 1/3 innings for the win, allowing six hits and one run. Zach Nuy tossed the final 1 2/3 innings for the save, giving up one hit while striking out three.
Cottonwood scored the game's first run in the top of the fourth inning, collecting three hits off Hennen. But Hennen and Nuy shut the door after that.
Landon Rolbiecki made two diving catches in left field, one of those saving a run.
The Mudhens tied the game in their half of the fourth inning when Jake Leighton led off with a single and Austin Buysse followed with another single. Tyson Sonnenburg's deep fly ball advanced the runners/ Alex Pohlen then singled for score Leighton.
In the seventh, AJ Myhre led off the inning with a single. Rolbiecki then reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs, DeVlaeminck singled to score Rolbiecki. Following a Cottonwood error, DeVlaeminck scored on a single by Austin Buysse.
"The bats were pretty slow, but the guys came through with some hits," said Sonnenburg.
The win gave the Mudhens a 7-3 record in the Land O' Ducks League.
Kollin Hanson had three hits for the Cardinals. Wyatt Schuster pitched all eight innings in absorbing the loss. He scattered eight hits, while walking none and striking out three.
