Minneota teams in Pacesetter ‘Sweet 16’ Tournaments

The annual Pacesetter Sweet 16 basketball tournaments, featuring several of the top teams in the state from each of the four classes in one summer shootout, are coming up Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 4-5.

Games will be held at College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, in Clemens Field House and the Haehn Campus Center.

The pairings for the boys tournament Saturday, Aug. 4, are as follows: Hopkins vs. Perham, Mahtomedi vs. Springfield, Minneapolis North vs. Minneota, and Champlin Park vs. Waseca, all at 9 a.m. East Ridge vs. Spring Grove, Willmar vs. Brooklyn Center, New Ulm Cathedral vs. Park Center, and Lake City vs. Princeton, all at 10:20 a.m.

Action will conclude Sunday with the consolation finals (first-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place) all at 1:30 p.m., and championship finals (first-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place) all at 2:50 p.m.

The pairings for the girls tournament Saturday, Aug. 4, are as follows: Wayzata vs. Lac qui Parle Valley, Maranatha Christian vs. Waseca, Stillwater vs. Pelican Rapids, and Stewartville vs. Grand Rapids, all at 11:40 a.m. Hopkins vs. Holy Family Catholic, New Ulm vs. Minneota, Prior Lake vs. Eden Valley-Watkins, and Minnehaha Academy vs. Willmar, all at 1 p.m.

Action will conclude Sunday with the consolation finals (first-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place) all at 4:10 p.m., and championship finals (first-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place), all at 5:30 p.m.
