The Minneota girls' basketball team moved one step closer to a return trip to state and a chance to defend its Class A title after routing Lakeview 65-39 in the Section 3A-North championship Friday night in Marshall.
The Vikings (29-1) will next take on Southwest Minnesota Christian, which captured the 3A-South crown Friday night with a 50-47 upset of top-seeded Hills-Beaver Creek, the Section 3A title game at 5 p.m. on Friday at SMSU.
Minneota was led by Morgan Hennen and Natalee Rolbiecki with 17 points apiece. Abby Hennen followed with 10 points.
Minneota will be playing in its ninth Section 3A championship and has won all but one time.
Lakeview, which finished 20-8, was led by Kiana Imes with 12 points.
