Kockelman at the state

Morgan Kockelman of Minneota got the ballup court int he state tournament's opening game win over Menahga, 74-69.

In other games, Mt. Iron-Buhl beat Stephen-Argyle Central, 59-47 and Sleepy Eye edged Ada-Borup, 53-51.

Minneota plays Lyle/Pacelli at noon followed by Mt. Iron-Buhl against Sleepy Eye. The winners will play for the state title tomorrow and the losers will play for third.

IN Class AA, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton lost its first game to Roseau, 62-56 but came back in the consolations to beat Mesabi East, 65-48. They will play Byron, a 54-47 winner over Minnehaha Academy for the fifth place title.

Maranatha Academy, an 85-47 winner over Mesabi East plays Roseau in the Class 2A semi-finals today.
