King shatters school discus record

Canby-Minneota (C-M) senior Norah King set a new school record as C-M took second place to Luverne at Monday's Pipestone Area Track Meet.

"Congratulations to Norah King setting our school discus record with a throw of 130 feet 1 inch (the previous record was 123-2)," said Coach Sara Hemish.

Minneota's Lizzy Gillingham came through with a long jump of 14 feet, 11 inches and captured the title at Pipestone. Mallory Thorson of Luverne was second at 14-5 1/2.

Greace Drietz of C-M finished second in the 3200-meter run, beaten by Heron-Lake/Okabena's Morgan Gehl by 24 seconds.

Kameron King won the 300-meter hurdles in 53 seconds, beating Holly Vis of Southwest MN Christian by three seconds.

The 4x100-mter relay team of Cassidy Hunt, Makenzie Hemish, Kalli Jelen and Lizzy Gillingham came home third, a second off the pace set by Luverne.

The 4x200-meter relay team consisting of Delaney Houseman, Makenzie Hmish, Jelen and Gillingham was third. and so was the 4x400-meter relay team. Jelen, King, Houseman and Gillingham ran that race.

Also third was the 4x800-meter relay team of King, Faith Traen, Abby Rost and Grace Drietz.

King's shotput of 33-11 was good for second place. Kourtney Rozeboom of Hills-Beaver Creek threw the shot 39-1 to win the event. Her record-setting discus throw beat Rozeboom by 27 feet.

Maya Wente of C-M was second in the high juimp at 4-9 for C-M and third in the triple jump at 31-5.
