Golf season finally underway

The Minneota golf teams finally got to compete after enduring and long and brutal winter that dragged into early spring.

Both teams competed against five other teams in the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Invitational Tuesday in Tyler.

Bowyer is co-medalist

Lauren Bowyer of Minneota was co-medalist with Rylie Hess of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton as each shot a 51.

Only one of the six teams, Lakeview, had a complete team and shot a 269.

Jeren Rost of Minneota was third with a 56. Emily Rybinski finished with a 72.

The boys and girls golf teams were scheduled to compete in a conference match on Thursday at Canby, but that match has been postponed until May 10.

The next meet will be a 10-team invitational hosted by Lakeview Tuesday, April 30 in Cottonwood.

Teams expected to compete are: Minneota, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Dawson-Boyd, Lac qui Parle Valley, Lakeview, MACCRAY, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Worthington and Yellow Medicine East.

The Vikings will travel to Tracy on Thursday, May 2 for a conference match against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.
