Esping to play in Minnesota Showcase

Minneota senior lineman Jackson Esping has been selected to play for the South team in the 49th Minnesota Showcase High School All-Star football game on Saturday, Dec. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Jackson, who will wear the number 78 as he did with Minneota, will be one of the defensive linemen on the South squad coached by Ray Betton of Shakopee. The game, sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association and the Minnesota Vikings, will be played at noon.
"Being selected to the Minnesota Showcase means so much because I have another chance to play the game of football and being able to show my abilities to everyone and giving myself another chance to play at the next level," Esping said.
Last year's game was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Marc Franz of Rogers will be the head coach for the North squad. The All-Star game used a North-South format from 1945-1960 and 1974-1979. It then became a Metro vs. Outstate format from 1980-2010 before switching back to North-South.
The South has won eight of the last 10 games.
