Canby-Minneota runner Grace Drietz finished fourth in the jam-packed Mega Meet at Milaca on Saturday.
"It was a beautiful day! Many of our runners ran about a minute faster than they did on this course last year. This meet is unlike the rest. 164 teams participate, and thousands of spectators come to watch," said Coach Allyson Pesek.
"Our girls varsity was led by Grace Drietz with a 4th place finish in a field of 221 runners. Grace led the girls team to a 4th place finish out of 28 teams in our division," the coach added.
The boys were led by Jalyn Ufkin with a 58th place finish and a time almost two minutes faster than he ran on this course last year. The boys finished 15th out of 33 teams.
The Junior Varsity runners ran in what they say are the two largest Cross Country races in the world. The JV boys were led by Zack Hansen with a 115th place finish in a field of 706 runners. The JV girls were led by Ryann Hansen with a 104th place finish out of 511.
"I am very proud of our team and their performances over the weekend," said Coach Pesek.
