Marian Laleman

Mass of Christian Burial for Marian Bernadette (Gawarecki) Laleman, 83, of Minneota will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. A public visitation will be held at Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 4-6:30 p.m. Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Visitation will continue at Horvath Remembrance Center Friday, April 14, 2023, from 9-10 a.m. A Committal service will take place at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:30 p.m.
Marian Bernadette (Gawarecki) Laleman was born June 22, 1939 to Anton and Amelia (Kusnierek) Gawarecki. She was baptized, received communion, and confirmed at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN. She attended school at St. John Cantius in Wilno, MN for a few years and then Ivanhoe High School graduating in 1957. She worked at Frank’s Meat Market and Ken’s Market in Ivanhoe.
She was united in marriage to Etien Jules Laleman on September 15, 1958 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe.
Marian enjoyed being a volunteer driver for Western Community Action for many years. She was a lector at church, President of St. Edward’s Rosary Society. She and Etien were volunteers for the funeral committee at St. Edward’s. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening, most of all spending time with family and friends.
To this union were born nine children. Julie Schumacher of Sleepy Eye, Jackie Laleman of Minneota, Jeanne (Loren) Ludewig of Sleepy Eye, John (Susan) Laleman of Ivanhoe, Jerald Laleman, Joyce Laleman, Jamie Laleman of Marshall, Jody Laleman of Caliente, NV; and Jason (Jessica) Laleman of Minneota; and 27 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Marian died at Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Sunday April 2, 2023. She is survived by her husband Etien Laleman, her children Julie, Jackie, Jeanne (Loren), John (Susan), Jamie, Jody, Jason (Jessica), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother LaVern (Pat) Gawarecki of Marshall, MN, brother-in-law Omer Laleman, sister-in-law Leona Thooft, sister-in-law MaryAnn Buysse.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents Anton and Amelia Gawarecki, son Jerald, and stillborn daughter Joyce, grandson Anthony Jules Laleman, brothers-in-law Joseph (Bertha) Laleman, Daniel (Agnus) Laleman, sister-in-law Zona Laleman, brothers-in-law Amandus Thooft, Elmo (Bernice) Wyffels, Harold Buysse.
