Julie Festerling
Julie Festerling, 67, of Minneota died on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the Avera Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Julie Ann Schulz was born on March 17, 1954, in Morris, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Roland and Mable (Becker) Schulz. Julie was baptized on April 11, 1954, and later confirmed in her faith on May 12, 1968, both at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morris. She attended school in Morris, graduating with the high school class of 1972, before going on to Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, where she graduated in 1977 with a teaching degree.
On July 8, 1978, Julie was united in marriage to John Festerling in Morris. The couple made their home in Wisconsin, Michigan and later Minnesota. Julie taught at Emanuel Redeemer Lutheran School in Yale, MI, Saint Stephen Lutheran School in Adrian, Michigan, and Samuel Lutheran School in Marshall, Minnesota. She also spent some time working at the Community First Bank in Marshall, MN.
Julie was a faithful member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall and was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society. Her enjoyments in life included tutoring students at school, reading, embroidery, and spending time with family - especially her grandchildren.
Julie Festerling died on Monday, March 7, 2022, in Marshall, Minnesota, just 10 days shy of her 68th birthday. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Festerling of Minneota; three children, Melissa (and Tim) Berg of Rapid City, SD, Paul (and Marissa) Festerling of Blairstown, NJ, Angela (and Daryl) Timmerman of North Mankato; eight grandchildren, Hannah Berg, Isaiah Berg, Chloe Berg, Landon Festerling, Ethan Festerling, Jillian Timmerman, Garrison Timmerman, Novalynn Timmerman; sister, Sherry (and Bob) Lawson of Princeton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Mable Schulz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or Samuel Lutheran School in Marshall.
