Water, water everywhere

The gates were open but access to K.P. Kompelien Field was not on Monday as Yellow Medicine River overflowed its banks after a heavy thunderstorm hit Minneota and dumped over an inch of rain on Sunday night and early Monday morning.
There was discussion of possibly moving Tuesday’s baseball game because of the flooding to Granite Falls.
However, the water receded overnight on Monday and Minneota’s baseball game was able to be played at home on Tuesday.
The boys and girls track meet schedule for Monday at Marshall had to moved to Tuesday. Not only was the road entering the ball field blocked by deep water, but also Riverside Park was flooded.
Several other county roads were closed on Monday due to the flooding.
