Canby becomes Viking boys sixth victim

Minneota took an 13-2 lead early and by half led 38-18 — enroute to a 69-43 win over the Canby Knights Thursday night at Canby.

The No. 1-ranked Vikings ran their record to 6-0 on the year. They open the Candy Cane Tournament at Minneota tonight against Westbrook-Walnut Grove (4-1) at 7:30 p.m. Lakeview will play Heron Lake-Okabena in the earlier game.

Minneota drove their lead to 53-29 before everyone started getting into the game.

The Hennen brothers led the team in scoring — Thomas with 20 and Jacob with 10. Logan Sussner scored 14 points and gathered in 12 of Minneota's 35 rebounds. Nobody else got into double figures but just about everybody scored.

Nolen Boerboom had seven and reserve Grady Moorse pumped in six points — includintg a three-pointer. Riley Buysse came off the bench and sank a shot from three-point land.

Minneota forced 23 turnovers and had 18 steals, led by Jared Josephson with five.
