Hazard of the harvest

Harvest is in overdrive after being delayed by rain this fall. Many farmers are working day and night.

And with the potential of more rain on the way, farmers are working around the clock to get the crops in.

Tuesday just before noon, the first, "Hazard of the Harvest," occured when a tractor caught fire while the farmer was chisel-plowing the land.

The tractor was destroyed, but nobody was hurt and the condition of the plow equipment is not known at this time.

The fire was six miles off County Road 10 on 360th St. N., about 10 miles northeast of Minneota and six miles north of County Road 10.

It was in Yellow Medicine County. Firefighter Bruce Laleman confirmed this is in the Minneota fire coverage area. No other departments were at the scene.

The name of the tractor driver was not known at this time but he did not sustain injury. Cause of the fire is not known at this time.
