The Canby-Minneota girls track team put on a strong showing Thursday at the Camden Conference Meet in Granite Falls and took the championship with 170 points, 54 points better than runner-up Lac qui Parle Valley.

Lizzy Gillingham had a great day, leading her team to victory. She won the 200-meter run :28, a half second better than Olivia Butterfield of Lakeview. Then she took second in the 100-meter dash, losing to Sierra Plotz by four-tenths of a second. Gillingham was fourth in the long jump and also ran with the conference-winning 4x200-meter relay team in 1:53 that also included Delaney Houseman, Makenzie Hemish and Kalli Jelen.

RyAnn Hansen took a third in the 400-meter dash and Grace Drietz captured the 800-meter run in 2:25.9, seix seconds ahead of Isabel Schirm of Lac qui Parle Valley. Then Drietz ran the 1600-meters (mile) and won that event as well in 5:26.3, well ahead of second place Jordyn Sterud of Lac qui Parle Valley.

Lac qui Parle Valley's Jordyn Sterud easily won the 3200-meters, but Faith Traen was second and McKenzie Ruether third Canby-Minneota.

Kameron King's 100-meter hurdle run was good for second place and Kalli Jelen took second in the 300-meter hurdles. The 4x400-meter relay took second with Hansen, Hemish, King and Drietz running that race. The 4x800-meter relay was third and the 4x100 fourth.

Norah King won the shotput with a distance of 35-6 and she was second in the discus with a throw of 112-1.

Hemish cleared seven feet and took second in the pole vault. An eight-foot vault by Savannah Rausch of Lakeview won it.

And, C-M's Maya Wente placed third in the triple jump, going 33 3/4 feet.
