Another easy win at Granite Falls
Minneota piled on two more easy wins this week, 74-43 over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and 77-31 over Yellow Medicine East.
For sophomore forward Nolan Boerboom, it’s been just what the doctor ordered.
Last year, stricken by illness and injury, Boerboom had a year he’d like to forget.
But now, he’s back and Tuesday tossed in 19 points to lead Minneota over a “Sting-less” squad from Granite Falls.
“We’ve been playing together since we were in fourth or fifth grade. It’s nice we have reached the varsity level together,” said Boerboom.
For Boerboom, who gets red in the face when asked about “loving” the three-point shot, his four, three-pointers led a team that hit nine of 14 from long range against “the Sting.”
“It’s been easy so far,” said Boerboom, who hasn’t been contested much on his long-range bombs. But he knows the time is coming. “We play Lakeview on the 18th (Tuesday), and that should help us see where we are,” he said.
While the three one-sided victories have been nice, Boerboom and his mates know it will take an effort to attain their goal — a Section 3A win and first-ever trip to the Minnesota State Tournament.
Right now, that’s far in the distance. “Hopefully we’ll be there at the end of the year. Right now, we’re worried about the next game,” Boerboom said.
That’s Frirday night at Canby.
In addition to Boerboom, the Vikings got 15 points from Thomas Hennen; 14 from Jacob Hennen, nine from Isaac Hennen and eight froim Logan Sussner — who also had 10 of the Vikings 34 rebounds.
