Viking fans invited to see Taylor Reiss, Megan Larson perform

The top-ranked Southwest Minnesota State women's volleyball program will honor all fans and guests from nearby Minneota High School as a part of "Minneota Day" this Saturday during the Mustangs' home match against No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul which begins at 2 p.m.

Prior to attending SMSU, senior setter, Megan Larson, and junior outside hitter, Taylor Reiss, were teammates at Minneota High School for three years where they helped the Vikings to a third place finish in the Minnesota state tournament each year.

Larson and Reiss were each named AVCA All-Americans last season and have each earned NSIC Player of the Week honors on two separate occasions this season.

Taylor Reiss, the Preseason NSIC Offensive Player of the Year this season, was also named AVCA/Sports Imports Division II National Player of the Week back on Sept. 12.

Reiss and Larson have been major contributors to the Mustangs' offense that ranks in the nation's top-10 in assists per set (14.15), hitting percentage (.280), and kills per set (15.28) so far this season. Larson, Reiss and Mustangs' junior outside hitter, Kaylee Burmeister were each members of a club team based in the southwest Minnesota area that won a USAV Girl's National Championship back in 2014.

The trio of southwest Minnesota natives have helped the Mustangs to a 74-12 overall record during their time at SMSU (Reiss was forced to sit out the first 10 matches of her freshman season in 2015).

SMSU volleyball will recognize all guests in attendance from Minneota, which is just 13 miles from Marshall, during Saturday's match against No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul. SMSU will play Minnesota State at home on Friday night at 6 p.m., before hosting "Minneota Day.”
