GIRLS BASKETBALL
Thirteen players scored for Minneota, including four reaching double digits, in an 83-22 triumph over Ortonville last Thursday night in Minneota.
The Vikings (9-2), coming off a tough loss to No. 6-ranked Hancock, regrouped and forced the Trojans (0-13) into 39 turnovers.
Grace Hennen led all scorers with 17 points, making 6 of 11 shots and 3 of 4 free throws. Kenadi Arndt notched a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 18 rebounds, while also making seven steals. Sarah Gruenes had 12 points off the bench, making 6 of 9 shots from the field. Kiersyn Hulzebos also had 12 points. Dakoda Hennen added nine points and six steals.
Minneota cashed 17 of 24 free throws, while Ortonville made just 1 of 4 free shots.
The Vikings established their dominance early, bolting to a 12-2 lead and finished the first half with a 35-16 lead.
Minneota, which scored a season-high 48 points in the second half, got 29 points from its non-starters.
Kadyn Gronholz and Lily Streich led the Trojans with seven points apiece.
NOTE: The varsity girls basketball game against Central Minnesota Christian School Monday night at Prinsburg was postponed due to the winter storm.
