Minneota Schools will be closed until March 30

MINNEOTA SCHOOLS CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 30

Good Afternoon,

Governor Walz has temporarily closed all schools in the state of Minnesota starting March 18. Because we had a large group of Minneota students, staff, and residents attend the girls' basketball game on Thursday at the Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, we have decided to take the extra measure and close schools immediately. There will be no school tomorrow, Monday, March 16 and no school on Tuesday, March 17 and this closure will continue through March 27 as per the emergency executive order signed by Governor Walz today.

As a school, we will be providing more details and information regarding this unprecedented event at a later time.

Minneota Schools will be canceling all activities, open gyms, practices, competitions, and scrimmages for all age levels effective immediately. This is including but not limited to spring sports (softball, baseball, and track), JO Volleyball, Thor Wrestling, speech, band, spring play and any youth traveling basketball practices. There will be no access to the school gyms for any reason. As of right now, this is through March 27, 2020 but this date is subject to change. We will be following the direction of the MSHSL and our governor. Please see the press release below:

o The previous MSHSL directive prohibiting scrimmages, contests, and competitions with other MSHSL programs for Spring activities and athletics will continue until April 6, 2020.
As COVID-19 is rapidly evolving, the MSHSL will continue to monitor the most current information and directives from the Minnesota Department of Health, the Governor of Minnesota, and the Centers for Disease Control. The MSHSL will continue to work within the intent and support of the Emergency Executive Order and Department of Health recommendations in its actions and decisions.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available and as decisions are made.
