Sunnyside school house destroyed by fire last week
The Sunnyside school house was destroyed by fire last Thursday evening. The school house was one of the old timers and is not a very great loss. It is though that the fire caught from the chimney in some way. Probably a modern school house will be built and it should not be impossible to get one or two other districts to go in with this one and build a good two-room school. A modern school house should be well insured as most of them are like kiln-dried lumber; the least little accident may set fire to them.

B.B. Gislason wants the fellow who ran off with his fur-lined coat to return it as soon as convenient. He says he is not certain who the fellow was but this being the thirteenth coat that he has lost in just this way, he is very anxious to have it returned, as he has always been of the opinion that thirteen is a lucky number and not an unlucky one.

Opening cornerstone box at Hope reveals interesting items
A cornerstone box placed at Hope Lutheran Church in 1889 was opened on Tuesday evening during an annual meeting. The cornerstone was taken when the church moved last fall. The original name of the congregation was Immanuel First Norwegian Congregation. Much of the material in the box was written in the Norwegian language and was translated at the meeting by Olaf Dovre. After translations are complete, some of these documents will be placed in a new cornerstone when the new church is built. Some of the items in the cornerstone included a letter from former pastor Rev. Hoel dated May, 1889; five church magazines; a Norwegian newspaper; two Norwefgian hymnbooks; a Norwegian Bible; an 1889 Indian head penny; and a list of the members of the Ladies' Aid.
