Rock thrown at photo of governor in Mascot window
The fellow who threw a stone at the picture of Gov. Preus in the window of the Mascot office, was a better representative of the element of destruction than he was a marksman. He failed to hit the face he aimed at but he did succeed in ruining a plate glass window that will cost about forty dollars to replace. The Mascot does not own the building and the miserable coward who threw that stone vented his spite against an old man whose only source of living is from the rentals that he receives from the people who occupy the building in which the Mascot is located, a man who knows little and cares less about the fortunes of politicians.

Groff, who formerly was in the barber business here, will return and go into partnership with Mr. Bowe.
Supervised playgrounds have positive effect on kids
Minneota has been trying the experiment this summer of operating a supervised playground at the school grounds. There were two main reasons for doing this. In past summers it was found that the school grounds naturally attracted the children as a play center, but when unsupervised this proved highly undesirable and therefore it has been thought advisable to allow the children to come and enjoy the playground under supervision. Play and games have a positive educational influence that no one can appreciate who has not observed their effects.

High winds damage Furgeson's machine shed
High winds once again struck Dean Furgeson's farm located about 10 miles south of Minneota last Wednesday evening. A year ago, the Furgesons lost their entire crop to hail, and winds destroyed the barn and damaged other outbuildings during a storm in late June.
