United Way nearing its local goals

Minneota is part of the network included in the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN), which is making its final push to complete the current financial campaign.

Marcy Heemeyer, United Way Director, has announced that $579,373.83 in donations and pledges have been recorded to date during the annual fund-raising campaign.

This equates to 96.6 percent of the $600,000 campaign goal. Over the last 15 years, United Way of Southwest Minnesota has re-invested more than $5.9 million locally to benefit the lives of our friends and neighbors.

More than 50,000 local people are being served through United Way of Southwest Minnesota initiatives, community partner programs and partnerships in 2017-18. United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community.

“The theme is, ‘LIVE UNITED,’ and in Southwest Minnesota, we focus on health, education, financial stability, hunger and safety & well-being,” said Heemeyer.

A donation to UWSWMN will go to work to improve the lives of people living in the following school districts in Minnesota: Canby, Clarkfield, Dawson/Boyd, Echo, Fulda, Hendricks, Ivanhoe, Lake Benton, Lakeview, Lynd, Marshall, Milroy, Minneota, Murray County Central, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Tracy Area, Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Yellow Medicine East (public, private and charter).
