The original St. Edward the Confessor Church (now St. Edward's Church) and Rectory were built in 1881. The cost to build the church was $900, which was built on borrowed money. Before the debt was cleared, however, an additional $900 was paid for interest due to the strained financial conditions. Father Louis Cornelis was appointed Pastor in August 1881.
