Lighting the way to Patriotism
Lighting up the night in honor of those who gave their lives for the cause of freedom changed the landscape of Minneota on Memorial Evening. The “Light the Lights” ceremony at the newly completed Veteran’s Park helped visitors appreciate the need to celebrate the lives of veterans — especially those who gave their lives in service to their country.
“Honor those Patriots who believed in our way of life,” said Pam Gregor, VFW Commander at the morning service in Minneota.
The same rain that’s ruining planting season sank deep into the soul of Memorial Day — but couldn’t stop the spread of Patriotism.
On Monday night, the lights went on at Veteran’s Park in Minneota — enveloping the darkness and “Lighting the Lights” of Remembrance.
As Lyon County Veterans Service Officer Heidi Fier said at the Taunton American Legion service, “People will gather in small towns and big cities to celebrate and remember those who made this life possible.”
