Election Day is right around the corner and soon we will see an abundance of little round red "I Voted" stickers around town.
While many people voted early in person or via mail, in-house voting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Talk centers on the poll numbers showing former Vice President Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump by a significant margin. But poll numbers aren't always a true indicator as evidenced by the last presidential election.
This area also has some interesting elections coming up.
In the District 16A Senate race, incumbent Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls) is being challenged by Joshua (I-Marshall and Steve "Stoney" Preslicka (LMN-Franklin).
And in the District 16A State Representative race, incumbent Chris Swedzinski (R-Ghent) is opposed by Doria Drost (D-Lynd).
Four people are vying for three seats on the Minneota School Board, with incumbents Terri Myhre and Jeri Whortenbury being joined by Carmen Panka and Ryan Runia.
Mayor John Rolbiecki is running unopposed for his second term, as are current City Council members Amber Rodas and Travis Gillund.
In the mayor's race in Ghent, standing mayor Ron Sussner is being challenged by Zachary Boerboom.
Lyon County Commissioners Gary Crowley, Charlie Sanow and Rick Anderson are also all running unopposed for re-election.
Many people feel the coronavirus pandemic has waned enthusiasm in regards to running for office.
