Scott Thoma’s “Two with One Shot,” story of a girl who killed two deer with one shot had, “A great lead, great story, good quotes.”

Third place

Scott Thoma dominated this category with a third place as well with a story about, “Porter being involved in the World Series.” The train operator at Minute Maid Park in Houston was the focus of this story. “Nice job getting a unique angle, local story out of a national event.

Second place

“A Veteran’s Reflection.” “The photographer captured a photo that is a portrait from living to deceased. This is a powerful photo that draws the viewer to take a second look. Wonderful composition, exposure, thoughtfulness, and moment."

Brian Jeremiason captured first for his photo called, “Starry, Starry night.”  “Beautiful shot! The whole spread locked it up for me. It was a lovely showcase of talent.”
