E-Learning coming to Minneota

E-Learning Days, or “A Digital Learning Day,” may soon become reality in the Minneota Schools.

Principal Jeremy Frie traveled to Springfield to learn about E-Learning from the Springfield School District, which has been running the program since 2015.

“A digital learning day replaces a school day canceled due to inclement weather.”

A student will complete learning activities and assignments provided by the teacher while still in the comfort of his/her home.

“They will receive learning activities and assignments for each subject they would have taken during the original day,” said the principal.

An E-Learning Day is conducting learning through the use of video instruction for students.

A bad weather day could turn into an E-Learning Day.

Minneota will not try more than five E-Learning Days the first year and Principal Frie indicated they may do three E-Learning days per year.

“It works and I think it will go fine.

Teacher Matt Buysse is going to walk away with a degree from Auburn University and he’s never set foot on campus,” Principal Frie explained.

Because weather can be disruptive to learning in this area, this new method allows the school to keep the learning process moving. And the school will get credit for the day rather than lose it to inclement weather.

Students will be sent a message through the School Messenger system to inform they will be on the “Digital Learning Day” system.
