County-wide rides available
On Tuesday the Lyon County Board of Commissioners heard a report on the United Community Action Partnership Transportation Program that runs the community transit program in Marshall and other parts of Lyon County.
Transportation Director Cathleen Amick told the board the Community Transit program intends to provide access for all people with transportation needs.
The board questioned how much the program is used throughout the county, not just in Marshall. Throughout the county is a program called, “Dial-A-Ride,” said Amick.
It is basically by demand. “If you need a ride, you call in and indicate your needs,” she said.
“We have a pretty good system with Tracy and even with Cottonwood,” Amick said.
She indicated the corridor to Canby (through Minneota) is an area, “Certainly on our radar,” but not completely developed at this time.
