Bot heads up new ‘On the Job Training’

Teacher Ruth Bot is heading up a new, “On the Job Training Program” for students in Minneota schools.
“The program offers a chance for students to learn to work in the actual work place,” said Bot.
The idea is to prepare graduates for careers in field as varied as nursing, marketing, auto repair, fashion design, agriculture, computer science, ag science, hospitality management, plumbing, manufacturing, protective services, library science and others.
“This gives the students a chance to get out and see what the work experience is like,” she said.
“It’s the responsibility of the student to find the work experience,” she added.
Basically it’s a “work experience program.”
Initially, this is a program for seniors, but all students in the program must maintain a C average in the classroom.
“This should also help give us a better idea of how to get kids ready for the workforce,” Bot said.
