Ambulance meeting set for public
The Minneota City Council Monday night set a special meeting for 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 24 in the council chambers to talk to the public about the ambulance problem.
North Ambulance earlier gave Minneota notice they would not operate the service starting in 2019. While they are still communicating with North Ambulance, a pair of meetings have been held recently.
On August 20, a group that included representatives from each township and city in the coverage area met with North Ambulance.
On August 27, the same group met, minus North Ambulance. While no information has been released, the public will be informed on the direction being taken toward establishing and maintaining an ambulance in Minneota.
Monday the council also set their preliminary levy at 12.1 percent and will submit the proposal to the county.
“There’s still more work to be done on (the budget),” said Minneota City Administrator Shirley Teigland.
Once the city submits the levy, they can actually go lower — but they can’t exceed the amount they submitted.
