Airport package leads to a Marshall arrest

A package intercepted at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport led to the arrest of a twenty-two-year-old Marshall man on charges of felony-controlled substance possession.

Arrested was Omar Yanez, Jr. Also found after a search warrant was produced at the site where the package was delivered was a plastic baggy and glass jar containing marijuana.

It also contained numerous items of drug paraphernalia. On Tuesday, November 20, the Brown/Lyon/Redwood/Renville Drug Task Force was contacted by officials at the airport.

That contact indicated a packed they intercepted contained approximately 10 pounds of marijuana.

With the cooperation of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police, the Marshall Police Department and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, a controlled delivery of the package was done in Marshall.

It was later that the search was conducted and the marijuana and paraphernalia were confiscated.

Yanez is expected to appear in Lyon County Court on the charges.

The combined Drug Task Force has been operating for several years and recently announced another arrest had been made.

Over the years the Drug Task Force paid for by funds from the counties served, has been instrumental in the area.

Lyon County has officers represented on that task force.
