Activity advisors approved at recent meeting

It was a dark and stormy night for the October school board meeting at Minneota Public School. Though it was snowy outside, all the board members arrived at the meeting prepared to take care of the monthly school business.
Positive comments from the board ranged from continuing to thank all the staff for their dedication and hard work keeping the school operating in hybrid mode to commending the athletes for their enthusiasm out on the playing courts, fields, and track.
In usual fashion the agenda was approved, the bills were approved with few questions, and the administrative reports were delivered. Cari Pohlen, Activities Director, was pleased to be able to have spectators at the school events at this time. Elementary Principal Mrs. Mahan-Deitte and High School Principal Mr. Frie continue to share that the students are doing a great job in the hybrid-learning model. Kids enjoy being with their friends and teachers while teachers believe the face-to-face connection with their students promotes good learning.
Winter coaches and volunteers were approved at this meeting. Some of the winter sports will start before the November board meeting. Advisors for the following activities were also approved: FCCLA-LeaAnne Bot, FFA-Matt Buysse and Garrett Moorse, NHS-Angela Laurer, Knowledge Bowl-Aaron Koep and Devann Schultz, Student Council-Al Panka, Elementary Student Council-Kaley Buysse and Samantha Pies, Prom/Jr. Class-Amber Rodas, Extra Duty Director-Tami Tolk, and Community Education Coordinator-Jeremy Frie.
Nikki Traen, Brianna Anderson and Brandi Stefansen were approved as ECFE staff. Melissa Lozenski will be working in the kitchen as an aide. Barb Knutson will continue as the COVID-19 director.
Under Business Affairs – bids for property, liability, auto, and workmen’s comp insurance will be posted. These bids are due by 3 p.m. on November 13, 2020, in the district office. This is the same date the snow removal bid is due.
The school board election results will be canvassed at a special board meeting on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 a.m. The next regular board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the band room.
