Second half taxes are due
Second half 2018 real estate property taxes are due on Monday, October 15. Most agricultural property and mobile home taxes are due November 15.
Check your tax statements for the official due date on your properties. Payments for Lyon County properties can be dropped off at the Auditor/Treasurer’s office on the second floor of the Lyon County Government Center at 607 West Main Street in Marshall during business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
For faster service bring or send your tax statement stub or write the parcel number on your check. You may also place payment in the drop box near the parking lot behind the Government Center off South Seventh Street.
The drop box allows you to provide payment after hours, avoid lines, and to save on postage. If you prefer to pay by mail, your envelope must be postmarked October 15 or before, or Minnesota statute requires a penalty be imposed. Mail is currently postmarked in the Twin Cities, not locally.
The postmark date is important — mail early. Lyon County also offers a direct payment plan for property taxes.
Sign up now for use of the plan for 2019 and beyond. Upon completion and submission of the authorization form found on the Lyon County website, the Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer’s Office will automatically deduct your tax payment from your account on the applicable property tax due date.
Additional information and a sign-up form are online at www.lyonco.org/tax-information.
