Mudhens to face Clinton or Dumont in 9C championship

The Minneota Mudhens, who have already qualified for the Class C state amateur baseball tournament, will host either Clinton or Dumont in the Region 9C championship on Saturday, Aug. 12.
Dumont and Clinton will play at 11 a.m. on Aug. 12 in the elimination final at K.P. Kompelien Field. The winner of that game would have to beat the Mudhens twice to claim the 9C title. The championship would be at 1:30 p.m., with a second game to follow, if necessary.
The top two teams from Region 9C qualify for the state tournament, but Minneota and either Clinton or Dumont will compete in the championship for state seeding purposes only.
Minneota was idle this past weekend, while six other teams battled it out in the elimination round.
