New Thrift Store slated for Minneota
After months of planning and checking various sites in the community, a new thrift store intended to siphon funds into the St. Edward School and Church will be opening.
A core group of volunteers have leased the old MGT Building on Highway 68 in downtown Minneota from Quinn Horvath and it will be called, “ONE MORE TIME of the Parish of St. Edward”.
The store will be run like a thrift store (with all items donated — no consignments accepted).
The Parish Store Group consists of Brenda and Gene Verschelde, Jeanette Sharp, and Barb and Jon Guttormsson. “All work will be accomplished through the help of volunteers. We will need many volunteers to make this fly,” said the core group.
If interested in volunteering, contact Brenda Verschelde, at 872-5193 and she will compile a list and arrange a schedule of working hours. Before they can open the doors, major cleaning and painting will need to be done.
“Again, we need volunteers to accomplish these tasks. We will need scaffolding to paint the walls,” said the core group. According to the group, “We have several generous contractors in our parish and we pray that you will come to our aid. We are also in need of a high-power pressure washer to clean the floors. “ All proceeds will to fund our school and church.
“We take possession, under our lease agreement on June 1,” they said. All items are welcome EXCEPT for large appliances and large pieces of furniture, and non-functioning electric items.
The plan is to open the doors for business on July 1, with a Grand Opening during Minneota’s Crazy Days in July. More information to follow in coming issues.
