Belgian-American Days draws large crowd again

Belgian-American Days was a big hit again this past weekend.
After having to be scaled back in 2020 due to the pandemic, most of the events and activities were back on track. There were even a few new events this year.
The streets were filled with people of all ages despite the muggy conditions.
One of the more popular events, the Challenge of the Lions Mud Run was cancelled this year due to the water shortage following this summer's drought. It was replaced by a non-competitive Non-Challenge of the Lions .05k event in which participants dressed in 1960s style clothing.
The annual Rolle Bolle tournament drew 19 teams and 13 novice participants. That number was down slightly from average years due to the absence of Canadian players that normally participate because of pandemic restrictions. But it was still a successful year with so many competitors.
The 15th annual Ghent Cruisers annual Car Show drew 106 vehicles and a large crowd this year.
People brought vehicles from all over the state, as well as neighboring states.
There was food and beverages available from several sources, a coronation, kiddy carnival, petting zoo, games, pedal tractor pull, bean bag tournament, an evening movie at the ice rink, grand parade, photo contest, scavenger hunt, and a street dance featuring IV Play.
All of the events were within walking distance of one another.
