The Marshall WorkForce Center has changed its name to CareerForce. This change is part of a major transition for Minnesota’s entire workforce system, bringing multiple partners under a single unified CareerForce brand. Unifying all elements of Minnesota’s workforce system will enhance customer service and improve outcomes for career seekers, employers, communities and Minnesota. An Open House will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, September 19 at the third floor office at the Lyon County Government center. A program will be held at 11 a.m.

Tiffany Quay Tyson will read from her novel, The Past is Never, from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Charter Hall 201 on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University. Her appearance is part of the annual Visiting Writers Series, sponsored by the Creative Writing Program. Tyson is the author of two novels, The Past is Never and Three Rivers. The Past is Never won both the 2019 Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award for Fiction and the Mississippi Library Association’s Author Award for Adult Fiction.
