Engels is girls’ stater; members honored

The Minneota American Legion Auxiliary Monday named Sarah Engels the 2017 girls’ stater to represent the legion in St. Paul, June 11-17.
At the same time, they held a ceremony to honor the memory of four long-time Minneota Auxiliary Members who have passed away. They are: Lucille Vlaminck, Mary Ufkin, Jeanette Konold and Borghild Larson.
“These women were faithful members,” said President Sandy Josephson.
The guest for the evening was Claudia Rabaey, the 2016 girls state representative. Engels also represented herself as the 2016 VFW Voice of Democracy winner.
Rabaey reported on her week at Bethel University last June, and Sarah read her essay to the members.
