ROGER CULSHAW

Roger Culshaw, age 79, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2025, at Shakopee Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee, MN, after a courageous battle with Chronic Heart Failure and Lewy Body dementia.
A celebration gathering of Roger’s life will be held at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. E - Shakopee, on Friday, Jan. 17, from 4-8 p.m. with Veteran’s Honors Presentation from the Shakopee Honor Guard at 6 p.m. Private Burial services will be at St. Edward’s Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.
Born on Jan. 4, 1946, in Marshall, Roger was the oldest of six children to parents William (Bill) and Sophie (Polejewski) Culshaw. He attended St. Edward’s Catholic School and Minneota High School. From a young age, Roger contributed to the family farm and later embarked on a career in construction before being drafted into the Army. After his honorable discharge, he met and married Lois Larson (Culshaw) in December 1969. Together, they raised two children and made their home in Shakopee. The family cherished weekends camping with friends, enjoying fishing and water skiing at the lake, and taking many memorable vacations to Texas and Florida. Roger’s greatest pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In November 2005, Roger married Lynn King, the love of his life. They treasured their time together, especially the winter months spent at their home in Fort Myers, Florida.
Roger is survived by his children, Dean (Jane) Culshaw and Kim (Dave) Hergott; siblings Jim (Debra) Culshaw, Ruth Culshaw (Patrick Cronin), Geri Grape (Luther Hochradel), Judy (Tim) Fritz, Ilene Buretta Johanneson, Yvonne (Jim) Cassidy, and Tony (Pat) Buretta; grandchildren Daedra Rose (Maggie), Emily (Jared) Hagen, Sydney Culshaw (Nick Ambroz), Jack Hergott and Sophie Hergott; three great-grandchildren, Ruby, Mabel, and Violet Hagen; stepchildren Kim (Mark) Mertens, Wendy Whitman, Jason Gylland, and Jeremy (Tammy) Gylland, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynn Culshaw; his brother, Donald Culshaw; his parents, William (Bill) and Sophie Culshaw; and his stepmother, Lucille Culshaw.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Friendship Manor and Benedictine Living in Shakopee for their compassionate care of Roger.
Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
